TICK TOCK As we move closer to finally opening our little studio :) … rain is not helping , but we want rains! I will be moving all my pots of paints to this new creative space and paint from there. Find us at 22 A Kamagelo Centre ( just past the radio station and High Tea with Elephants) This painting has no name yet , but it’s certainly bright and cheerful on these rainy days. #abstractpainting #hoedspruit #lowveldliving #musemagazine #letsdothis

Meet David - David Murathi is a master woodcarver whose work reflects the deep cultural roots of the Venda people. Born and raised in Tshakhuma, a village in the heart of South Africa’s Limpopo province, David’s art is an extension of his heritage, his family traditions, and his personal connection to the land. There’s something magical about the way David interacts with the wood. He lets the natural shape of the material guide the creation of each piece, resulting in works that seem to grow from the wood itself, echoing the connection between nature and the ancestral spirits. His sculptures often explore themes of spirituality, social issues and cultural narratives. From a woman offering traditional beer to an elder, to a dancer embodying the serpent-like form of the Domba Dance, each sculpture tells a story, revealing the soul of the Venda people. What truly sets David apart is his voice—a rich, honeyed tone that seems to resonate with the very essence of the earth. When you hear him speak, you feel at home, as if you’ve been invited into a world of warmth, wisdom, and tradition. He’s not just a skilled artist, but a respected traditional herbalist, drawing from the healing powers of nature and the wisdom passed down from his ancestors. #meettheartist #masterwoodcarver #vendaart #heritageandcraft #limpopotalent #ancestralwisdom #woodcarvingmagic #spiritofthesoil #africanartistry #culturalstorytelling #craftingtradition #healingthroughart

🔮✨ Meet The Sourceress ✨🔮 Whispers of adventure. Threads of untold stories. Brushstrokes of culture. Deep in the heart of the Lowveld, where the golden sun kisses the wild earth, she roams. A seeker of beauty. A curator of soul. A guardian of forgotten art. Once an interior designer, Bianca Black heard the call of the unknown—the pull of something wilder, something more. She traded fabric swatches for ancient patterns, showroom walls for open horizons, and set off on a quest to unearth Africa’s hidden creative treasures. Now, she wanders through markets and villages, studios and sunlit courtyards, gathering art, stories, and magic. With her trusted partner, Mike, she brings the work of local artisans to the world—one piece, one tale, one ripple at a time. Thanks again to the wonderful images by @emmagatlandphotography xx She is The Safari Sourceress. 🪄✨ Follow her journey, and let the magic find you. 🌍🔍 #MeetTheSourceress #ArtBeyondBorders #AfricanSoul#safarisourceress
**🌿🎨 Inspired by the Land: How Limpopo’s Artists Draw from Nature 🌄** In Limpopo, art isn’t just created—it’s *grown* from the earth itself. 🎨✨ From the rich ochre soil to the winding rivers and ancient baobabs, nature is more than a backdrop; it’s a storyteller, a muse, and a source of endless inspiration. 🌾 **Earth & Clay** – Local potters shape their vessels from the same soil that has nourished generations, echoing the curves of rolling hills and the textures of the wild landscape. 🦜 **Wildlife & Spirit** – Carvings and beadwork bring to life the sacred creatures of Limpopo—the hornbills, elephants, and leopards—honoring their wisdom and presence in everyday life. 🔥 **Sunset Hues & Tribal Patterns** – The fiery reds, deep blues, and golden tones of Limpopo’s sky spill onto canvas, fabric, and murals, blending modern artistry with ancient traditions. 🏺 **Sacred Symbols & Stories** – From Venda to Tsonga artists, traditional patterns tell stories of ancestors, rainmakers, and the spirit world, connecting each brushstroke to centuries of heritage. Here, the land *creates* alongside the artist. Every stroke, carve, and weave is a conversation with nature—a living art form passed down through time. Which part of Limpopo’s beauty inspires you most? 🌿✨ #LimpopoArt #NatureInspired #AfricanCreatives #safarisourceress #lovelimpopo
*Why Do Elephants Have Long Trunks?* 🐘✨ Long ago, Elephants had short snouts. This made drinking and eating tricky, as they had to kneel down every time. One day, while drinking at the river, an Elephant was ambushed by a hungry Crocodile! 🐊 He clamped onto Elephant’s nose and tried to drag him into the water. A fierce tug-of-war began! 🌀 Elephant dug in his feet, pulling with all his might. The battle lasted hours, stretching Elephant’s nose longer and longer… until Crocodile gave up, exhausted. At first, Elephant was embarrassed by his long nose, but soon he realized—it was incredibly useful! He could now drink, grab food, and even reach high branches with ease. The other Elephants saw this and wanted long trunks too! One by one, they challenged Crocodile to a tug-of-war… and one by one, they won. And that’s how Elephants got their trunks! 🐘💫 Meanwhile, Crocodile stayed hungry and learned never to mess with Elephants again! Do you love African folktales? Tell us your favorite in the comments! 🌍✨#safarisourceress#storeytelling #lowveldliving#culturalart
🌿✨ The Enchanted Realm of the Blyde River Canyon ✨🏞 Deep in South Africa’s heart lies a place where nature weaves magic into every cliff and riverbend—the Blyde River Canyon. One of the world’s largest green canyons, it’s a realm of misty peaks, lush forests, and the winding Blyde River, whose name means “River of Joy.” 🌊 A River That Whispers Legends Carving its way through ancient rock, the Blyde River nourishes life in this otherworldly landscape, cascading through waterfalls and weaving through shadowy gorges. The air hums with energy, as if the canyon itself holds secrets of forgotten times. ⛰ The Three Rondavels – Guardians of the Valley Towering above, these rock formations resemble traditional African huts, standing like ancient sentinels watching over the canyon. Local legends whisper that they represent three powerful chiefs, forever etched into stone. ☁️ God’s Window – A View Beyond Worlds At the canyon’s edge, God’s Window opens to an endless horizon where valleys vanish into mist. On a clear day, the view stretches beyond the Lowveld, hinting at the unseen mysteries of nature’s design. 🌟 A Portal to Magic Whether you drift along the river, hike through the ravines, or stand in awe at the canyon’s edge, Blyde River Canyon is more than a destination—it’s a journey into the mystical soul of Africa. ✨ Have you felt its magic? Mystical Namibia: A Land of Legends & Otherworldly Beauty ✨🏜️ Namibia isn’t just a country—it’s a portal to the surreal. A land where towering dunes whisper, spirits linger, and time stands still in hauntingly beautiful ways. 🌫 The Salt Pans – A Lunar Dreamscape Stretching endlessly, these cracked white plains shimmer under the sun. In the wet season, they transform into oases, drawing flocks of flamingos—a fleeting burst of life in an otherwise silent world. 🧙‍♀️ The Skeleton Coast – Where Shipwrecks Rest Fog-draped and desolate, this eerie coastline is littered with ghostly shipwrecks and whale bones. Legends whisper of lost souls wandering its shores. 🌄 Sossusvlei – The Desert That Breathes Towering red dunes shift and change, making the landscape feel alive. At dawn, shadows dance across the sand, while Deadvlei’s petrified trees stand frozen in time. 👻 Kolmanskop – Namibia’s Ghost Town Once a thriving diamond town, now a sand-filled relic. Wandering through its abandoned buildings feels like stepping into a lost world, echoing with the past. 🪶 Twyfelfontein – Messages from the Ancients This UNESCO-listed site holds over 2,500 rock engravings, etched into sandstone by the San people. Their stories of hunts, spirits, and sacred connections remain alive in the stones. ⛰ The Spitzkoppe – Namibia’s ‘Matterhorn’ Rising from the desert like a granite mirage, this sacred site is steeped in ancient myths and spiritual energy. Under the night sky, the stars feel close enough to touch. Namibia is a land where nature and legend merge, where every dune, canyon, and forgotten town tells a story.
